Leveling is always the most tedious and painful process of a video game. These builds that I am going to provide will not only help you level quicker, but more efficiently. I will go into detail on which builds would be great for each specific type of game play.
Leveling as a guardian is going to be a great choice for multiple reasons. I will list a few and then start explaining builds, and give some helpful tips to make your leveling process much more enjoyable.
Leveling Tips and Tricks
While you get familiar with the game, make sure you are killing everything you come across while questing. I can’t stress this enough, if you continue to kill and be active you will always stay a little bit ahead of your quests making the extremely easy. You are going to want to make sure you are at least level 10 before venturing off into different planets. It should take you anywhere from 4-8 hours to reach level 10, maybe longer depending on how much you want to explore.
The next important thing that I want to mention is class quests, these are essential to obtaining items in SWTOR. You will get your ship at levels 14-17 depending on how far along your class quest line is. If you want to level faster than your friends, make sure to keep up on your class quests!
Don’t be a jerk to people in general chat, if you maintain a level of respect to your fellow players you will find it a lot easier to get groups for quests. Whenever I find a group that is capable of managing and killing things, I will try to stick with them for as much as I can. You are going to level so much faster in a coordinated group than by yourself.
Some of the most useful information I found out while playing SWTOR was that simple interface options are going to save you the most time and hassle out of everything. Make sure that your graffics are tuned properly that you won’t get extreme lag while leveling, this can be extremely frustrating if you die.
Enabling auto-loot and area loot – If you aren’t familiar with auto-loot and area loot, they are one of the most important features in SWTOR for saving time. These options will automatically loot everything on the bodies of fallen enemies around your character with just one click.
- To make sure that these two options are enabled press the ESC Key, then look under Settings for Auto-Loot and Area Looting.
- You can send your companion back to town to sell gray items, just simply press N (this is set as default) and choose the option for your companion it will take about a minute and he will be at your side again.
- You can gear your companion to increase his/her damage and survivablity this is a huge factor as these companions are extremely handy.
- If a quest mob is giving you a hard time, make sure that there isn’t a item available to use to either weaken or buff your character.
- You can craft directly using mats from your bank, there is no need to carry them on your person.
- Turning in quests while grouped will give you social points, which are required to buy social gear. The quests will also reward extra XP and you will have a higher chance at green+ quality items dropping while playing with a group.
Leveling builds !
Mitigation/Damage 5/36/0 - http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/jedi_knight/guardian/?build_id=770#::f9e2f9e12f2ece4f20:770
I believe that this spec is going to be used mostly for the player who wants to mitigate as much damage as possible while maintaining sufficient damage. This includes everything that is needed for a tank while gaining a few extras. Companions will be great tools for every build, so why not put your points where you can survive a lot longer than other classes?
All out damage – 7/3/31 (http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/jedi_knight/guardian/?build_id=1545#::fdf8ef3efef17ef5e2fef2e12fe:1545)
This build is going to be great for pumping out damage left and right, this build has all the important talents and features that will help you kill things with extreme ease. I have always enjoyed pure damage builds while not having to rely on tanking or other players. This build combined with a companion pet will be extremely hard to keep up with for leveling speeds.
AoE Tank - 32/2/7 (http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/jedi_knight/guardian/?build_id=1436#::e13fdef2e2f18ef7df10e2f:1436)
This build is going to be great for playing with friends or someone who likes to grind levels without questing. If you have a pocket healer get in the action and hold all the threat while killing everything around you. If you are playing with damage then simply hold the monsters while your allies demolish them!
