SWTOR Jedi Guardian Leveling Builds and Tips

Leveling is always the most tedious and painful process of a video game.  These builds that I am going to provide will not only help you level quicker, but more efficiently.  I will go into detail on which builds would be great for each specific type of game play.

Leveling as a guardian is going to be a great choice for multiple reasons.  I will list a few and then start explaining builds, and give some helpful tips to make your leveling process much more enjoyable.

Leveling Tips and Tricks

While you get familiar with the game, make sure you are killing everything you come across while questing.  I can’t stress this enough, if you continue to kill and be active you will always stay a little bit ahead of your quests making the extremely easy.   You are going to want to make sure you are at least level 10 before venturing off into different planets.  It should take you anywhere from 4-8 hours to reach level 10, maybe longer depending on how much you want to explore.

The next important thing that I want to mention is class quests, these are essential to obtaining items in SWTOR.  You will get your ship at levels 14-17 depending on how far along your class quest line is.  If you want to level faster than your friends, make sure to keep up on your class quests!

Don’t be a jerk to people in general chat, if you maintain a level of respect to your fellow players you will find it a lot easier to get groups for quests.  Whenever I find a group that is capable of managing and killing things, I will try to stick with them for as much as I can.  You are going to level so much faster in a coordinated group than by yourself.

Some of the most useful information I found out while playing SWTOR was that simple interface options are going to save you the most time and hassle out of everything.  Make sure that your graffics are tuned properly that you won’t get extreme lag while leveling, this can be extremely frustrating if you die.

Enabling auto-loot and area loot – If you aren’t familiar with auto-loot and area loot, they are one of the most important features in SWTOR for saving time.  These options will automatically loot everything on the bodies of fallen enemies around your character with just one click.

- To make sure that these two options are enabled press the ESC Key, then look under Settings for Auto-Loot and Area Looting.

- You can send your companion back to town to sell gray items, just simply press N (this is set as default) and choose the option for your companion it will take about a minute and he will be at your side again.

- You can gear your companion to increase his/her damage and survivablity this is a huge factor as these companions are extremely handy.

- If a quest mob is giving you a hard time, make sure that there isn’t a item available to use to either weaken or buff your character.

- You can craft directly using mats from your bank, there is no need to carry them on your person.

- Turning in quests while grouped will give you social points, which are required to buy social gear.  The quests will also reward extra XP and you will have a higher chance at green+ quality items dropping while playing with a group.

Leveling builds !

Mitigation/Damage 5/36/0 - http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/jedi_knight/guardian/?build_id=770#::f9e2f9e12f2ece4f20:770

I believe that this spec is going to be used mostly for the player who wants to mitigate as much damage as possible while maintaining sufficient damage.  This includes everything that is needed for a tank while gaining a few extras.  Companions will be great tools for every build, so why not put your points where you can survive a lot longer than other classes?

All out damage – 7/3/31 (http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/jedi_knight/guardian/?build_id=1545#::fdf8ef3efef17ef5e2fef2e12fe:1545)

This build is going to be great for pumping out damage left and right, this build has all the important talents and features that will help you kill things with extreme ease.  I have always enjoyed pure damage builds while not having to rely on tanking or other players.  This build combined with a companion pet will be extremely hard to keep up with for leveling speeds.

AoE Tank  - 32/2/7  (http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/jedi_knight/guardian/?build_id=1436#::e13fdef2e2f18ef7df10e2f:1436)

This build is going to be great for playing with friends or someone who likes to grind levels without questing. If you have a pocket healer get in the action and hold all the threat while killing everything around you.  If you are playing with damage then simply hold the monsters while your allies demolish them!

SWTOR Jedi Guardian Skills and Abilities

The Jedi Guardian class is a strong multi-mob tank.  This class is great for grouping due to the multi-mob threat abilities and AoE taunts. The Jedi Guardian is one of the advanced classes of the Jedi-Knight class.

While this class is primarily focused around multi-mob tanking, you will still be able to put out heavy amounts of damage with the Vigilance tree.  This tree is also good for a few of the low level skills in conjunction with the Defense tree.

The Jedi Guardian Vigilance tree is mainly used for DPS, this tree focuses on abilities that will demolish enemies with a single light saber.  It provides great single light saber offense that will quickly take down enemies.  There are two main abilities that are available after level twenty that will severely increase your game play.

Shien Form (Form) – This ability places you in an offensive lightsaber form that will increase all damage that you deal by 6%.  It will also refund 1 focus for every ability that costs focus to use, while generating 1 focus while taking damage.   You can only generate focus once every six seconds from taking damage.

Force Scarring (Passive) – This ability will lower your targets internal and elemental resists by 10 percent for the first application.  This will be great for high resist creatures.

The Jedi Guardian Defense tree is the primary tree for tanking.  This tree is the main focus for many players, and the main focus for this advanced class.  This tree will help maintain threat on single and multiple mobs.  The abilities granted from this tree are nothing short of amazing.

Forceclap (Passive) – This ability will make your Force Leap skill stun targets for two seconds.  This buff is extremely great for managing health and monsters when you need a few seconds to regain control of the fight.

Endure (Active) - This ability is considered a huge buff, and is deemed one of the most important of the class.  This ability temporarily increases the maximum health of the guardian by 30% for 15 seconds.  This will be important to keep up at all times during tanking!

Jedi Guardian Skills

Victory Rush – This skill is great for obtaining more focus as Sundering Strike is one of the main bread and butter abilities of the Jedi Guardian tanking.

Dust Storm – Force sweep is already an amazing multi-mob tanking ability but with this additional skill you will take a lot less damage due to the fact that you are reducing the enemies’ accuracy.

Guard Stance – This skill is required for tanking on the Jedi Guardian, it will increase your defense by 6% in Soresu Form.

Blade Barricade – This skill goes hand-in-hand with Lunge which is great for tanking, every time that Riposte is off cooldown you should use the ability.  This ability will increase your defense an additional 6%!

Hilt Strike – Stunning and high threat makes this ability great for maintaining mobs and grabbing threat.  Maintaining stuns on enemies allows healers to catch up and groups to squeeze past tough encounters.

Pacification – Increasing damage by main abilities is extremely important; this skill will increase the majority of your main attacks.

Cyclonic Sweeps – This skill is great for focus generation and cooldown management by resetting the cooldown of other abilities.  This skill is great for tanking.

Inner Peace – Inner Peace is another great skill to reduce damage, while increasing the duration of an extremely powerful buff.  This is a mandatory talent for the Jedi Guardian!

Guardian Slash – This is one of the best tanking abilities available for the Guardian Jedi, this attack is does an extreme amount of damage while stacking an armor debuff on the enemy.  After the enemy has maximum stacks of the debuff, Guardian Slash will do an extra 300-600 weapon damage which is great for threat.

Force Exhaustion – This skill is great for PvP, you will be able to slow the target down to a slow paced walk while dealing a steady amount of damage with a big burst at the end.

Plasma Brand – This skill is huge for damage in groups, dealing initial upfront damage with a extreme dot added afterwards.  This ability has huge damage output with a small cooldown which is great for PvE.
